PLATFORM HAS WORKED FOR THE LIBERATION OF PAKISTANI CHRISTIAN FOR EIGHT YEARS
-The Spanish organization garnered the support of citizens from all over the world in its many campaigns directed to the president of Pakistan and supranational institutions calling for Asia Bibi’s release. It also spread this exclusive message which the detained Christian mother sent to her daughter in November 2016, expressing the wish to go and live in Spain.

We will do everything in our power to ensure her safety, as promised to her family. We ask the government of Pakistan for maximum protection for her children her husband and all Christians in the country.”
MADRID, 31. OCTOBER 2018.- CitizenGO celebrates the fact that Asia Bibi’s death sentence and conviction has been overturned and remembers the Christian Pakistani woman’s wish to come to and live in Spain. And this organization which defends the religious freedom and fights Christian persecution all over the world, has worked tirelessly for 9 years for the release of the unjustly incarcerated mother. To do this, they garnered, among various other activities, the support of citizens around the world by launching multiple campaignsdirected to the president of Pakistan and supranational institutions, calling for her release.
Moreover, in November 2016 the platform CitizenGO spread the exclusive message which Asia Bibi sent to her daughter where she expressed her wish to get to Spain and live there.
The president of CitizenGO, Ignacio Arsuaga, couldn’t contain his joy over the news of Asia Bibi’s overturned death sentence: “These are the news that millions of people around the world have been waiting to hear for nine years”, ha stated. “We trust that this is the first step towards her release. We will do everything in our power to ensure her safety, as promised to her family. We ask the government of Pakistan for maximum protection for her children her husband and all Christians in the country.”
Nine years in prison
Since 16. June 2009 Asia Bibi has been in prison accused of violating blasphemy laws under “sharia” after having had a debate with her Muslim counterparts, who reproached her for drinking from a well as a Christian. Her family said that they were worried about Asia Bibi’s physical condition having worsened in the past months in the prison of Multan, where she is being held in solitary confinement for security reasons. Her charges had been dropped as she was awaiting a new trial.
Since the begin of her incarceration the platform CitizenGO has fought for her release, supported her family and has sent financial help de from thousands of citizens for the legal defence of the Christian mother.
Moreover, Asia Bibi received the HazteOir Award in 2012. Invited by HazteOir.org, her husband Ashiq Masihand his daughter Eisham Ashiq a España invitados came to Spain to accept the award on Asia Bibi’s behalf. The Images of the event can be seen here.
Asia Bibi’s family also attended the I International Conference “We are all Nazarenes” #WeAreN2015 which took place in Madrid in 2015. This event saw the premiere of the documentary ‘Freedom for Asia Bibi’ co-produced by MasLibres.org and the Foundation CitizenGO. Images from the premiere can be viewed here.
In fact the documentary ‘Freedom for Asia Bibi’ included testimonies and footage filmed during a mission trip to Pakistan which MasLibres.org and CitizenGO organized in 2014, led by Ignacio Arsuaga.
Arsuaga then accompanied the daughter and husband of Asia Bibi to Rome where they attended a public audience in San Peter’s Place. Images can be viewed here.
“It has been many years of fighting to make the voice of this Christian mother heard. It is a symbol of our steadfast faith, for all of our brothers and sisters who are being persecuted for their faith in Christ. We will continue to work for her release and the safety of her family.
