26-M: Spain, Yes to Life! - English chronicle

"We have the power of our vote, we are the scientific, legal and moral right on our side".

REDACCIÓN HO.- 200,000 Spaniards have rallied last weekend to shout Yes! to life in more than 70 cities all over Spain. Other countries and cities around the world have joined the International Day for Life and have also organized demonstrations. Entire families, grandparents, kids have joined to send a civic outcry to their political representatives, demanding a firm commitment to the defense of the first human right, the right to live from the moment of conception to natural death.

In Madrid, on March 26, at 12: 00 pm, a great demonstration started. 50 prolife associations gathered around 150,000 people.

The President of HazteOir.org, Ignacio Arsuaga, mentioned the remarkable response of young people, which shows that the attacks on life, such as abortion or euthanasia, are not going to be accepted by our society: "It is wonderful to see how our young people commit to life", highlighted Arsuaga.

Thousands of white and blue balloons, flags, t-shirts, posters filled the streets of Madrid... "Yes to life", "No to abortion", "Let me live" were some of the slogans that could be read at the banners.

“The demonstrations” as highlighted the spokesman for Right to Live (DAV), Dr. Gádor Joya, “show the civic push in defense of this just cause, that of human dignity”. “Laws may be adopted, but unjust laws may be repealed”. With perseverance, imagination and joy necessary we will attract more and more citizens. “Politicians must choose. You are either with society or are against it. Either with life or against it”.

From 13:00 representatives of the organizing delivered their speeches at the Puerta del Sol. After the arena, a banner of more than 200 feet high by 400 feet wide, covered the facade of Madrid Government building with the text: 'Everyone has the right to life'.

The filmmaker Miguel Ángel Tobias, presenter of the event,  was in charge of reading the Manifesto. He appealed to society “to be aware of the value of all human life”. He demanded “respect and legal protection for all human beings, from conception to natural death”. The Manifesto also proclaimed and celebrated “the gift of life, as a natural, primary and non-negotiable right of every human being”.
